NITROX - free on board of the Maldivian Dream

All divers know the multiple advantages of diving with NITROX, between them the possibility to extend bottom times up to 20% more than with air, no deco diving, on dive spots like Donkalo Thila where mantas dance while clening themselves at 20mts of depth, or the possibility o cross the chanels between schools of jackfish, sharks, rays, tunas on depths average 30-35mts without the rush of deco alerts on the computer, and with just a simple safety stop before surfacing, has changed radically the dive plan on our trips since we introduced our first membrane system in 2005.

Together with the increase of safety, specially on a liveaboard with trips often far to the closest deco chamber facility, divers are less fatigued after the 3 dives a day program and enjoy the after-diving program we have on board and the visits to beaches and fisherman islands to see learn and understand people of this exotic country.

Our NRC NITROX membrana system togheter with our BAUER compressors give us NITROX fills up to 34% for the 12 & 15 liters steel tanks 3 dives a day, and without any extra cost for divers joining us.

On board our dive donhi analyzers available for you to control the mix and plan your dive accordingly. Our Safaries are REBREATHER friendly as we have available (at extra cost) SORB and OXYGEN (medical 100%) as well as a Booster Pump. On board one SCR Dolphin and new 2008 a CCR EVOLUTION. 

What's NITROX?

Basically adding extra Oxigen to the breathing mix on the tank we are using underwater will reduce nitrogen absorption and allow us extra bottom time without decompression stops.

What's NITROX depth limitation?

It depends on the used mix but should never exceed the 1.6 bar ppO2. The usual mix we fill, 30%, would allow us to dive at 40mts with just a ppO2 of 1.5 with the benefit of a 20% extra dive time without deco and a simple 5mts/3min safety stop.

Do I have to use a NITROX computer?

Simple answer, NO.You can dive on NITROX with an AIR computer adding even more safety, but if you prefer to get the benefits of NITROX fully you can rent from us a NITROX computer during the trip.

Do I need special training to dive NITROX?

YES, a simple NITROX training and certification is required to understand the principles, advantages and disadvantages of NITROX.

Ask your Instructor or Dive Center to cover the program before your trip to Maldives, or if your time is short you can complete it on board on a simple and relaxed manner (reading, video, lecture and test), taking no more than 3 hours and for an extra cost of 100euros (PADI cert.included).

Does it have any cost to dive NITROX on board MALDIVIAN DREAM?

NOT at all. NITROX for FREE for all passengers joining OCTOPUS Safaries from first to last dive, no restriction on tank size (12 & 15 liters) and dives per day.
